Grand Champions, Season 5!

We'd like to congratulate our Grand Champions of Season 5 Pro and Free Leagues, who took out the huge Finals events last Sunday 9th Dec!

Ian Slater, regular player at the Boat and Woodvale Tavern, took out the Pro Final, beating 171 other players to the huge first prize of $20,048.00 and the WAPL Grand Champion Medallion! After a great final table comprising of a very skilled and diverse final 8, Ian managed to pip Nathan Crisafi at the post! Nathan took $6,220.00 for 2nd place, and the top 18 players of 172 made the money!

The Free League had 68 starters this Season, yet the competition was just as fierce for top spot as in the Pro league final! With some memorable performances throughout the day, we ended with a final 2 who proved that Poker isn't just a newage fad. Woodbridge regular June Eggleston just managed to get past Dell Royston-Ing from the Brighton Hotel for first place in Free League, and both of these Seniors fought bravely through a tournament of bluffing and new style play to prove that sometimes good, solid playing of your cards can still pay off in the end! Congratulations June for taking out the day, and Dell for your well deserved 2nd place!

We'd like to thank all of you who've given us thanks at and since the finals. We are happy to be able to consistently bring you our very high standard of Poker, and to let so many people experience the huge day of poker that is the WA Poker League Grand Finals!
