Season 7 Grand Final Wrap!

Well, another WAPL Grand Final has come and gone with a blast! We saw yet another huge day at South Fremantle Footy Club, with 161 runners in the Pro Grand Final and 66 in the Free Final, as well as many members who came down to take in the atmosphere, support their friends, or play on the many sit n goes and cash tables throughout the day!

In the Pro League Final, our final 3 places were swapping the chip lead many times as we approached the end of the tournament. The 3 players (Kevin Kenny, Dean McAskil and Len Histon) knew what was on the line... they had already made it into the money when they reached 16th position... they were already well over $1000 in prize money upon reaching the Final Table. Now they were battling out the top 3 spots, worth between $3500 and a staggering $20,000+!

After a tense heads up, we saw regular Claremont Footy Club and Market City Tavern player Dean McAskil emerge victorious to Len Histon, with Kevin Kenny taking 3rd place. Dean wins the overall title of Grand Champion for Season 8, the $20,000+ cash and the coveted $5000 WAPL Grand Champion Medallion! Congratulations Dean! Results from the Pro event can be found here!

In a just as tense Free League Final Table, we saw Steven Herbert take the title of Free League Grand Champion from Scott Hardie, winning in style by a Queen kicker when they both hit trip 8s on the flop! Congratulations Steven! Results from the Free event can be found here!

To all who attended the Final, we trust you enjoyed your day. Our thanks to you for participating during the season, and we look forward to bringing you more great Poker in Season 8!

To our staff. You have yet again done an awesome job. The Grand Finals are not an easy event to manage and run, and we must thank our staff for the super efforts they put in on days like these! Please make sure you show your appreciation for their hard work when you catch them at tournaments soon! They work very hard to bring such a high level of poker to you, our members.

Lastly, we are in Pre-Season for one week, and start Season 8 officially on Sunday 24th August! We wish you the best of luck for the new season, and remember to invite your friends down to join the fun of WA Poker League Season 8!
